A Theory of Sexual Selection may help to explain why men and women have different voice pitch. Across cultures, voice pitch is used to size up the competition and choosing a relationship partner. Men with lower-pitched voices tend to have more children than do men with higher pitched voices. Collectively, these findings suggest that Sexual Selection has played a part in the evolution of sex differences in voice pitch.
