Description

Communication problems affect many with acquired brain injuries (stroke, trauma) and developmental disorders (autism spectrum disorders) and can compromise the range of therapeutic options offered. Recent advances in brain imaging are creating new communication tools to assess and diagnose nonverbal people and permit the disabled to better interact with their environment.

John Connolly is a world-renowned expert in cognitive neuroscience specializing in neurolinguistics and brain imaging. He arrived at McMaster in 2008 as Professor and Chair of the Department of Linguistics & Languages and is co-director (with Elisabet Service) of the Language, Memory & Brain Labs at McMaster and the Hamilton General Hospital.
